Our son has been here since he was 5months and is now just over 3 years. Hes built beautiful relationships with his peers and the kaiako over the years. The philosophy and pedagogy of Your Place aligns so well with our aspirations for our son and the staff have always been super receptive to anyways they can support as we've approach various milestones. Theres a great sense of passion for our tamariki from everyone who operates within the Centre. Looking forward to our next one arriving and beginning their journey here also. My eldest son started when he was 6months , and now he is 4.5yrs. These last 4 years I have had the joy and privilege to see what an amazing person he's becoming and I do give a lot of credit to the teachers and caregivers here. So it was a super easy decision to enrol my second son here as well. He too started at 6 months. The teachers here are so wonderful, caring and the boys feel so safe and loved here. I also love the fact that they have an inhouse chef that prepares these lovely meals for the kids. I would highly recommend Your Place childcare. Fiona Schuler21 January 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We joined the Your Place family in 2021 when I returned to work. We visited lots of local centre's and selected Your Place it just felt like the right place for us for a variety of reasons. It was daunting and a bit scary the thought of handing our daughter over to someone else for the day, would she be ok?loved? safe? When I first visited the warm and friendly teachers in the Kiwi and Pukeko rooms were the first people we met and made us feel at ease and knowing our daughter was safe and would be loved and cared for. Then we had the 1 month settling in period (which ended up being more for me than her). I felt safe dropping her off each day. The rooms are well thought out for each age and stage of development, our first visit explained why each room was set up a certain way and over the years we have seen the things Mel talked about in the first visit actually happen. Watching tamariki engage with all the real life resources-using real glasses and china plates. Exploring the gardens and playing on real grass, and splashing in the rain and puddles is encouraged - Clothes can be changed for dry ones but these experiences last a lifetime. Our daughter has learnt social skills, life skills, a love for arts and crafts, maths and science and she is confident and happy excited for school later in the year. Your Place is our sons home away from home, and I have enormous comfort knowing he is taken care of so well. Another comfort is knowing staff turn over is low. All staff in the infant rooms we met nearly 2 years ago when my son started are still present today. And I believe most of the infant staff started working in the room years before my son started. As a new parent this is a positive sign and stands out that staff are well retained. The joy I have knowing my son is enjoying his time at Your Place, having fun while learning and exploring, and is taken care of, is hugh. I always recommend Your Place to local families. Nature based or virtues based learning with long settling in periods. Attentive and caring child practitioners and wonderful facilities. Highly reccommended to any parents in and around the Millwater area. Natalie Ayson9 January 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our son has been attending Your Place since he was 10 months old and he loves it. The settling in process for him and us as parents was fantastic, so much so that there was no tears and now he’s been there a year it’s a quick good bye as he runs off to play. He loves his carers and they all do an amazing job. As do the support team behind the scenes. If you have any special requests for your little one, they are very good at taking care of it or offering a good alternative. They put on a wonderful Christmas party for all the kids & families in December and so many activities throughout the year. I highly recommend Your Place as a very welcoming and nurturing centre. We started our 10 months old at Your Place a couple of months ago and have been genuinely satisfied with the outcome so far. It is a real hidden gem of a ECE facility - teachers are nice and caring, great indoor & outdoor facilities, great ratio, nature based learning that's filled with fun activities. Best of all the settling period is the longest I've heard and really helped our little one to seamlessly settled in. Only two months officially in and he has already bonded with his caretakers and comes home really happy every day. Def would recommend! It has been already three months that my daughter joined to your place childcare. after visiting many childcares in Silverdale I finally chose here. I'm totally happy with its welcoming environment. tidy and clean. the teachers are nice, caring and professional. For me the best point is that teachers always keep me informed about my daughter's activities and progress. Anna B22 July 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This is a great space for little ones, driven by strong principles, inclusive, and supportive. All families are made to feel welcome, safe, and valued. There are amazing resources both inside and outside the classroom where expectations of care among staff are high and children are constantly challenged and encouraged. There are daily nutritional and delicious meals provided and communication with parents is excellent. There are also a number of events throughout the year that involve the children, staff, families, and community. We have had a great experience in the four years we have been involved with Your Place! Nici Whitfield3 July 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Discover What Makes Us Unique: Play-Based Learning in Action
At Your Place Childcare, we integrate the principles of The Virtues Project to foster kindness, respect, and a deep understanding of child development. This approach complements our unique early learning approach based on play-based education, making us a special childcare provider in Silverdale.
The Importance of Play-Based Learning in Early Childhood
In today’s fast-paced world, many children lack the time and space for meaningful play, with structured learning and rigid schedules often taking over. At Your Place Childcare, we believe play is the foundation of early childhood development.
Unlike traditional childcare centres that focus solely on structured learning, we emphasise the power of play-based learning to nurture creativity, build essential life skills, and inspire a love for exploration and discovery.
At Your Place Childcare, we understand that every child deserves an environment where they can grow, play, and discover at their own pace. Here is why families choose us:
Outdoor Play
We provide children with the opportunity to learn and explore the great outdoors, nurturing a love for nature and an adventurous spirit. From gardening to outdoor exploration, our programmes encourage children to connect with their environment.

Imagination Through Everyday Objects
Forget plastic toys! We encourage creativity and imagination by using everyday objects for play and learning. This unique approach inspires children to think outside the box and see endless possibilities in their surroundings.

No Plastic Toys, Just Real Play
Our play environment is free from plastic toys and screens. Instead, we focus on real-world experiences that stimulate curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Fostering Creativity & Critical Thinking
Every activity at Your Place Childcare encourages critical thinking and creativity while fostering virtues like patience and perseverance, guided by the principles of The Virtues Project. Through hands-on learning, children develop essential problem-solving skills that prepare them for a lifetime of learning.

Hands-On Learning in a Natural Environment
Our natural approach to education immerses children in experiences that allow them to discover, question, and learn by doing. Whether building with sticks or cooking pretend meals, our activities are rooted in real-world play.

Building Lifelong Skills Through Simple Play
From hammering nails in carpentry to pouring tea in a play kitchen, our hands-on activities nurture problem-solving, creativity, and resilience. These simple yet meaningful moments help tamariki develop essential skills for thriving in life and learning.

Play-based learning is at the heart of our approach, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and emotional growth. But beyond the activities and learning environments, it’s our unique culture that truly makes a difference. By embracing values such as kindness, respect, and inclusivity, we ensure that each child’s experience is not only educational but also culturally enriching.
Celebrating Culture and Community
At Your Place Childcare, we celebrate culture and community. Guided by The Virtues Project, we help children embrace values like kindness, respect, and connection. We honour the cultural diversity of our families and the rich heritage of Aotearoa New Zealand.
We host regular cultural gatherings where families share traditional foods, stories, and customs. These events create a vibrant space for children and families to connect and learn from each other’s unique backgrounds.

Learning Through Māori Traditions
At Your Place Childcare, we embrace the richness of Aotearoa’s Māori culture as an integral part of our play-based learning environment. From singing Māori songs to reciting numbers in te reo Māori, these cultural practices create engaging and meaningful learning moments for our tamariki (children).
In this video, you will discover how incorporating Māori traditions, including singing songs and using te reo Māori, enriches the playful learning experiences of our tamariki. By blending culture with play, we create an environment where children thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.

Connected to the Wider Community
Our relationships go beyond the centre walls. We are proud to be a trusted part of the Silverdale community, including building meaningful connections with the ageing population. These relationships teach children the value of compassion, respect, and intergenerational connection.
By nurturing these bonds, we ensure children grow with a deep appreciation for the world around them, creating a foundation for lifelong empathy and understanding.
At Your Place Childcare, we are committed to providing a nurturing environment where children thrive, develop a love for learning, and build meaningful connections.
