He turns 2 next week. Your Place has been a great home away from home for my son and I can drop him off and go to work, knowing that he’s having a stimulating day full of fun activities. On his 1st birthday, they had a tea party in his classroom with fruit tea in porcelain tea cups. They eat with real cutlery and drink out of glass cups. His fine motor skills and table manners have come along quickly with these exposures every week. The centre is also really flexible if you need to add your child in for additional days of care, even when life happens and I can only giving them 1 day of notice. My daughter started when she was 18months old and is just about to graduate. From day one we were welcomed into a warm and caring environment, where the staff are lovely, and the rooms are fully set up to provide the children with an array of fun activities and sensory experiences. One thing that I instantly connected with was the philosophy and with Mel's attitude and approach around being child centered, and child led. Each Kaiako or primary teacher my daughter had was exceptional. Providing her with a safe space to go to for a hug, to listen to her, encourage her and have supported her to grow. I can't speak highly enough of this facility, and I am forever grateful to Your Place for helping my daughter flourish into a confident, kind, curious and happy little girl. My eldest son started when he was 6months , and now he is 4.5yrs. These last 4 years I have had the joy and privilege to see what an amazing person he's becoming and I do give a lot of credit to the teachers and caregivers here. So it was a super easy decision to enrol my second son here as well. He too started at 6 months. The teachers here are so wonderful, caring and the boys feel so safe and loved here. I also love the fact that they have an inhouse chef that prepares these lovely meals for the kids. We visited lots of local centre's and selected Your Place it just felt like the right place for us for a variety of reasons. It was daunting and a bit scary the thought of handing our daughter over to someone else for the day, would she be ok?loved? safe? When I first visited the warm and friendly teachers in the Kiwi and Pukeko rooms were the first people we met and made us feel at ease and knowing our daughter was safe and would be loved and cared for. Then we had the 1 month settling in period (which ended up being more for me than her). I felt safe dropping her off each day. The rooms are well thought out for each age and stage of development, our first visit explained why each room was set up a certain way and over the years we have seen the things Mel talked about in the first visit actually happen. Watching tamariki engage with all the real life resources-using real glasses and china plates. Exploring the gardens and playing on real grass, and splashing in the rain and puddles is encouraged - Clothes can be changed for dry ones but these experiences last a lifetime. Our daughter has learnt social skills, life skills, a love for arts and crafts, maths and science and she is confident and happy excited for school later in the year.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Your Place is our sons home away from home, and I have enormous comfort knowing he is taken care of so well. Another comfort is knowing staff turn over is low. All staff in the infant rooms we met nearly 2 years ago when my son started are still present today. And I believe most of the infant staff started working in the room years before my son started. As a new parent this is a positive sign and stands out that staff are well retained. The joy I have knowing my son is enjoying his time at Your Place, having fun while learning and exploring, and is taken care of, is hugh.
